!! American boxer Norman Selby changed his name to Kid McCoy and often won by knockout. So many boxers used his name falsely that one night in a saloon, a drunk imitation McCoy claimed he could beat the real McCoy. Kid McCoy happened to be at the bar and knocked him down with one punch. The drunk said: "You're the real McCoy." The phrase was then used for his fights.

美國拳擊手Norman Selby改名為Kid McCoy，經常擊倒對手獲勝。許多拳擊手冒用他的名字，以至某晚在酒館裡，一名醉漢冒牌貨聲稱能打敗真正的McCoy。恰巧McCoy 本人在場，一拳將他擊倒。醉漢說：“你才是真正的 McCoy。”這短語從此用於他的比賽。
