Pull Out All the Stops——不遺餘力

** do something with maximum effort and resources, sparing no expense or energy

~~ go all out; make every effort; lean/bend/fall over backwards; spare no effort; move heaven and earth; pedal to the metal; go whole hog.

!! This late 19th century metaphor refers to the stops of an organ. An organ stop is the knob or lever that controls the sound of an organ. Pulling out a stop brings a pipe into play. Pushing in a stop blocks the pipe off.

這個十九世紀晚期的隱喻指風琴的音栓，是控制風琴聲音的旋鈕或控制桿。拉出音栓會使音管發聲，推入則阻住發聲。

When the pianist pulls out all the stops, all the pipes are in play with the loudest or fullest possible sound (fortissimo), and without let or hindrance.

當鋼琴家使出渾身解數時，所有管道都打開會發出最響亮或豐滿的聲音（最強音），且沒有任何阻礙或干擾。
