!! The proverb springs from Aesop’s Greek fable about a farmer who has a goose that lays a golden egg each day. He decides that if he cut open the goose, he will get all the golden eggs at once. He kills the goose, only to find that the goose is identical to any other goose on the inside. There is no store of golden eggs. He now has no goose to lay golden eggs.

這句格言源自伊索寓言，故事講述一位農夫養了一隻鵝，這隻鵝每天都會下一顆金蛋。他決定，如果剖開這隻鵝的肚子，就能一次拿到所有金蛋。他殺了鵝卻發現這隻鵝的肚子和所有鵝一樣，鵝肚裡沒有金蛋倉庫。現在，他沒有可以下金蛋的鵝。
