!! The phrase was coined by Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. He described the presidency as a "bully pulpit" — meaning it was an excellent(not the modern meaning of someone who intimidates others)platform to advocate an agenda, speak out on important issues, and influence public opinion. Today, it retains that meaning, often used to describe anyone in a prominent position who uses their visibility to promote ideas or causes.
