!! The “cheese” here might have come from the Persian or Urdu (a language used in India) “chiz” or “cheez”, meaning “thing, correct thing or the best” that the British brought back from India in about 1840, and soon came to mean a boss.
這裡的“奶酪”可能來自波斯語或Urdu語(印度使用的一種語言)“chiz”或“cheez”,意思是“東西,正確的東西或最好的”。這是英國在約一八四○年從印度帶回來的,很快就成為老闆的意思。
!! 'Cheese' or 'cheesy' is listed in John Camden Hotten's The Slang Dictionary, 1863 as:
"Anything good, first-rate in quality, genuine, pleasant or advantageous".
