!! The slang originates in mid-1900s among California movie and show-business people, referring to summer camps where counselors humorously call their child clients happy campers. It is also used in the negative. An unhappy camper refers to the homesick city kid who whines about the countryside, hating cows, cursing mosquitoes, and rejecting the hearty BBQ food.
>> In order to succeed in a business, the first internal requirement must be a productive crew who are happy campers.
>> Tom studied really hard for his medical school exam, but he still failed to get admitted. I am sure he is not a happy camper right now.
