!! When a bee lands on a flower, the pollen sticks to its hair. Then, when the bee lands on another flower of the same type, the pollen makes contact with the stigma (the top of the central female part of a flower) to result in pollination. To get one pound of honey, bees need to collect nectar from some 10 million flowers, which they change to honey in their bodies.
The simile is in Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, 1386-1400: "In wommen [women] be [are];for ay [~are] as busy as bees."
>> Don't bother her! Her hands are full and she is as busy as a bee.
>> Do not talk to bus drivers. They are busy as bees focusing on road conditions, bus routes, timeliness, and discipline in the bus, etc. with no time to chat.
