Jump the Gun——
**start doing something too soon, especially without thinking carefully about it(太快開始做某事情,沒有仔細考慮)// start something before the scheduled time or before the signal is given(在預定時間或給出信號之前就開始某事)//make judgment or act too hastily(太倉促做出判斷或行動)
~~ beat the gun (輕舉妄動;草率行事;偷步;搶跑)// get ahead of oneself // go like a bat out of hell // (opposite) don't jump the gun (別性急地講話或行動;別過早地行動)
!! This expression in the mid-1900s alludes to starting a race before the starter's gun has gone off, and supplants the earlier phrase "beat the pistol."
!! The expression also alludes to startled pheasants which frequently take flight before a hunter can fire his gun.
>> Patience is a virtue especially in this economy based on instant news. So learn not to jump the gun on daily news, be deliberate and discerning.
>> It seems that more and more start-ups are jumping the gun to go public when they only have an idea and no product.
