Jump the Gun——過早行動

!! This expression in the mid-1900s alludes to starting a race before the starter's gun has gone off, and supplants the earlier phrase "beat the pistol."

（這句說話在二十世紀中期暗示在發令槍沒發之前就開始行動，並取代早期的短語“打響手槍”。）

!! The expression also alludes to startled pheasants which frequently take flight before a hunter can fire his gun.

（這說話還暗示在獵人開槍之前，受驚的野雞已經飛走了。）
